Ms. Josefina wants to be Logan’s dad?

Logan’s cheeks turned pink the moment she said, “Once a mentor, always a father.” He knew Josefina was just making a point, but it still made him squirm a little.

Josefina noticed his reaction and cleared her throat, trying to play it cool. “Relax, I was just using an expression. I’m not actually trying to be your dad.”

Logan: “...”

Honestly, it wouldn’t have been so awkward if she hadn’t said it out loud.

She changed the subject. “Are you still having a lot of episodes lately?”

Logan shook his head. “It’s a lot better. Sometimes I can even stop them before they start. Dr. Berry came by yesterday—he really left an impression on me. After all these years, I can still remember exactly how it felt when he injected that serum into my skin.”

Josefina had never met Dr. Berry herself. The idea that someone was lurking out there, watching and plotting, unsettled her.

“Try to describe him for me,” she said. “If I can get a good idea of what he looks like, I’ll find him.”

Logan hesitated. “I’m not sure if the face I saw was even his real one. What if he was wearing a disguise?”

Josefina pulled out a notepad and pen from her bag, ready to sketch based on his description. She’d already seen Dr. Berry on surveillance footage, but she couldn’t exactly tell Logan about the hidden cameras Percy had installed in the garden. This was the only way to get his version without raising suspicion.

“I can draw him for you, if you want,” Logan offered.

Percy’s face lit up with relief. He knew how much Logan meant to Josefina, how heavy that worry had been for her. Now that Logan was on the mend, she finally seemed lighter.

“Dr. Berry will probably show up again,” Josefina said. “I want Logan to stay at Oliver’s for now. The place is practically a fortress, and it’s the safest option.”

Percy didn’t look thrilled, but he nodded. “Alright. I trust your call.”

She smiled. “Thanks for looking out for Logan all this time. We should get everyone together soon—dinner with you, me, Luke, and Livia. It’s been too long since we’ve all hung out.”

A real smile broke across Percy’s face. “I’d like that,” he said quietly.

Just then, Mandy came charging out of the inner lab, looking like she was being chased by a ghost.
