Garrett leaned back in his armchair, the flicker of the fireplace casting a warm glow on his seasoned face as he mused, "You know, I think Oliver's a fine young man. As a son-in-law, he'd make me quite proud."

Dorian, who sat across the room with a glass of whiskey in hand, remained silent, his gaze distant. He had seen through Oliver's façade; the man was shrewd, perhaps too shrewd for his own good.

...

Josefina and Oliver arrived at the police station to find out that Lena had regained consciousness and was currently in the hospital.

Together, they made their way to the hospital.

Lena sat propped up in her hospital bed, her eyes hollow as she stared out the window, seemingly lost in her own world. A female bodyguard kept a vigilant eye on her, ensuring she didn't attempt an escape.

With Josefina and Oliver's arrival, the bodyguard took the opportunity to step out for a bite to eat.

Lena glared at Josefina and shouted, "What do you want, Josefina? Did you hypnotize me?"

"You guessed it," Josefina replied coolly.

Oliver dragged a chair over, gesturing for Josefina to sit a safe distance from Lena's reach, just in case the woman lost her grip on sanity.

Lena's hair was a tangled mess, her face unwashed, resembling wilted straw. She clawed at the bedsheets, desperately searching for something to hurl at Josefina, but found nothing within reach.

Finally, grabbing a pillow, she threw it with all her might. Oliver, with a swift kick, sent the pillow rebounding back to smack Lena squarely in the face.

Lena fell silent, seething with rage.

"You have one last chance," Josefina said to her, "it's up to you to take it."

"What chance? A chance to live? Do you really think I'd believe anything you say, Josefina?"

"If you don't believe me, so be it. You've been squeezed dry of any value anyway." Josefina stood up, completely indifferent to Lena's outburst.

"Why are you the true heiress of the Harrison family? Why not me?" Lena roared with envy.

Josefina turned, a radiant smile illuminating her stunning features. "Well, you could always try your luck in another life!"

Lena was speechless.

Josefina stood patiently, dialing Luke on her phone.

"Monkey, I'm hitting a wall here. Lena's clammed up and won't spill anything worthwhile."

"Boss, I've done some digging myself," Luke's voice crackled through the phone. "The moment Lena was cut from the Harrison family, they probably ditched her and destroyed all evidence."

"But at least we've flushed out Lena," Luke added.

"These folks are cunning, laying plans for years without leaving loose ends. Monkey, watch your back. Tori and Jett are headed your way to ensure your safety."

The last time, if they hadn't arrived when they did, Luke would've been history.

"Boss, I'll stay sharp. Send Tori and Jett to watch over you instead. You're the one in the public eye, an easy target for revenge."

"I'll be fine, Monkey. Gotta go."

Josefina hung up the phone, her attention suddenly captured by a stranger approaching her. Her expression was one of startled surprise.
