"What's going on, Livia?" Finley's voice trembled with urgency.

"I already told you! I lost our baby because of you. You killed our child with your own hands!"

"I didn't even know you were pregnant, Livia. What happened?"

Livia's tone was as cold as ice. "You called me, said you were plastered. I went to the bar to get you, but you were nowhere to be found. Instead, I ran into some creeps. If Josie's friend hadn't shown up, I would've been done for. This is all on you, Finley. If not you, then Shay!"

With a swift, powerful move, Livia kicked Finley square in the stomach.

He doubled over, gasping for breath. "Livia, I swear, I never called you. That wasn't me."

Her eyes were like daggers. "If it wasn't you, then it was someone you know. Why else would anyone set me up? Who did I ever cross?"

Finley was just as desperate to figure out who’d used his name to lure Livia. "I'll find out who did this. You deserve the truth."

"Spare me! I can dig up the dirt myself. I don't need your pity or your help! It has to be someone you know, Finley."

Livia didn’t need to say it outright; she wanted to plant doubt in Finley’s mind. She suspected Shay.

Finley tried to explain, but Livia kicked him again, this time in the leg, forcing him down on one knee.

Looking down at him, she sneered, "Consider everything in the past a dog bite. From now on, every time I see you, you're getting a piece of me!"

She punched Finley square in the face, leaving him dazed and bewildered.
