Oliver gently held Josefina’s hand as he helped her into the car. She looked worried. “Are you sure about this? If we take out those three, won’t the police get involved? Last time, those folks managed to get Sydney and the others off the hook. If they can’t save them this time, they might twist it and pin Sydney’s death on you.”

Oliver fastened her seatbelt with care. “The cops have all the evidence they need. They’re not getting off easy. Even if they do, they’ll be under 24/7 watch.”

Josefina nodded, feeling a bit more at ease. “Good, because last time I got too reckless with Shay, ramming the car like that. It was risky and left too much of a trail.”

“That wasn’t your fault,” Oliver assured her. “Nichola pushed you too far. She needed a wake-up call.”

They exchanged a knowing glance, both smiling with a shared understanding.

Brandon was nervously pacing around at Rowan’s place when Oliver and Josefina showed up. Seeing them, he let out a sigh of relief. “Josie, Oliver, you’re here.”

They walked over and sat down.

“Rowan’s awake,” Brandon said, though his voice was heavy with concern. “But he’s really weak. The family doctor said he’s got internal injuries.”

Brandon’s face was clouded with worry and helplessness. Realizing he was getting worked up, he quickly shifted the conversation. “Did you sort things out with Sydney and the others?”

“The police are on it. Sydney’s tied up in a big case, and they’re not taking it lightly,” Oliver replied. As for Shay and Dominic, they were caught up in the mess too, and wouldn’t fare any better.

Brandon sighed. “I should’ve been tougher from the start. I should’ve kicked Rowan out when I had the chance. Now look at all this.”

Oliver just frowned, speechless. Josefina stifled a laugh, sneaking a glance at Oliver.

Ignoring Brandon’s comments, Oliver stood up. “Josie, let’s go.”

Brandon called after them, “Josie, could you check on Rowan for me?”

Despite everything, Brandon’s fatherly concern for Rowan was evident. Josefina agreed.

She got up to head towards Rowan’s room, with Brandon and Oliver trailing behind. Brandon was eager to understand the extent of Rowan’s condition. He feared the worst, the thought of outliving his child haunting him.

Oliver, on the other hand, was more concerned about Josefina’s safety, which is why he tagged along. The three of them entered Rowan’s room together.
