Chapter 690
No one could tell what thought had soured his mood, but a short while later, Julia, alongside all her Brown and Green family members, turned and wandered deeper into the crowd.
Yale trailed after them, only to realize they were heading straight for Franklin.
Franklin was surrounded by a tight circle of heavyweight corporate CEOS and world-renowned academic researchers. Just a Julia’s family drew near, Dr. Mercer finished changing out of his event blazer and headed over to join Franklin’s group as well.
Every industry luminary clustered around Franklin knew who Julia was, yet few of them had any familiarity with her

Thanks to Franklin’s close personal connection to Julia, Dr. Mercer and all the business magnates beside him greeted Logan and Janice politely, shaking hands and exchanging embossed business cards one after another.
Dr. Mercer offered them a cordial, professional smile. “So these are Miss Brown’s family. It’s a pleasure to meet you all.”
After the quick introductions wrapped up, Franklin and the circle of distinguished guests resumed their earlier high-level discussion.
Logan, Janice, and the rest of Julia’s relatives lingered beside them, listening intently. It was only after quite a stretch of time that Logan and his family stepped away from the elite huddle of VIPS.
At a gala of this caliber, people from vastly different social and professional tiers rarely dared to approach a figure as influential as Franklin to strike up a conversation.
Everyone in attendance knew Julia was Franklin’s girlfriend, yet the vast majority of guests had no clue who Logan and Janice
even were.
A small handful recognized them as Julia’s parents, but the Brown family existed on an entirely separate social rung from Franklin’s inner circle of billionaires and top scientists. No one could tell whether Franklin’s elite associates truly viewed them as equals, so all eyes lingered on Logan and Janice, watching their interactions with quiet speculation.
Now that Dr. Mercer and countless other industry power players had treated Logan and Janice with genuine courtesy and respect, the moment they stepped out from the VIP cluster, dozens of guests-some familiar faces, some complete strangers-swarmed forward to strike up friendly small talk and offer their congratulations.
Dr. Mercer and his circle of distinguished academics had fallen into some lively discussion. Noticing Johnny and Maggie were absent from their huddle, he sent an assistant over to fetch the pair.
Dr. Mercer turned to face Johnny and Maggie once they arrived. “What have you two been busy with? Care to join our conversation for a while?”
Johnny offered a polished, polite smile. “Of course I have time.”
As he spoke, he shot a quick glance at Franklin and Julia, then subtly curled his lip in quiet disdain.
Maggie had spotted Franklin and Julia too, yet her features remained perfectly neutral, no flicker of emotion showing on her

Alguém saberia dizer o que houve com o livro, sem atualização a tempos...
Nada de episódio novo?...
Does the book stop? When are we going to get a new chapter?...
Olá, A história parou no capítulo 288? O nome do livro me gerou mais expectativas, quando ela realmente vai desprezar os dois e brilhar???...
Everytime I read new updates I am hoping to see Maggie completely moving on with her life not always checking where Franklin is up to with Julia. I think everyone reading this story by now understand that Franklin doesn't care about Julia. So what is the point of always pointing out how indifferent Franklin is to Maggie and how attentive he is towards Julia....
What does Helen mean Maggie is still married? Married to whom? Franklin has made it clear that he doesn't consider her anything and is flaunting his relationship with Julia for anyone who has eyes to witness it.So Maggie should wait for the divorce to be finalized to date. Isn't that double standards. And Franklin is dragging the divorce deliberately since divorced or not he does what he wants without any consequences. Really women are emotionally oppressed even authors only know that point of view 😕...
I feel sad for Maggie and all married women who have to endure emotional abuse with no end in sight. By the look of it,Franklin doesn't want to divorce Maggie for whatever reason. Either the reason is good or bad, Maggie shouldn't be humiliated like this just because she loves him. And the grandmother should be helping her get a divorce not emotionally blackmailing her, if she really cared about her. Franklin is using Maggie's love for the grandmother to abuse her. Is really loving people wrong? Author this one-sided hurt is not right. Let Maggie move on with dignity. It shouldn't end up with Franklin professing his love for her and her accepting it....
