Chapter 25

Diana’s POV

By the time I woke up‚ Isaac was nowhere to be found. A knock sounded at my door‚ pulling me out of sleep so suddenly that I sat up in confusion. For a moment‚ I didn’t even remember where I was. Then I reached for my phone and checked the time.

My heart dropped instantly.

Oh shit. I was completely late to work on my second day.

“Di! Food’s ready!”

“I’m coming‚ Mom!” I called back as I jumped out of bed in a hurry. The movement made me freeze a second later when I realized I was completely naked. Heat rushed to my cheeks as memories from last night came flooding back without warning‚ everything replayed in my mind so clearly that my stomach tightened.

I shook my head quickly‚ trying to stop myself from thinking about it. This was not the time. I rushed into the bathroom and turned on the shower‚ letting the water run over me while I tried to calm down. My thoughts refused to settle. Part of me felt embarrassed‚ another part felt confused‚ something I didn’t want to examine too closely.

After bathing‚ I dressed as fast as I could and hurried downstairs‚ still trying to fix my hair with one hand while holding my bag with the other.

“Good morning‚ Mom‚” I greeted while already moving toward the door.

“Good morning‚ dear‚” she replied with a gentle smile. “Won’t you have something to eat before you leave?”

When the bus finally stopped near the hospital‚ I got down quickly and began to run. Nurses and patients filled the entrance‚ and the usual hospital noise surrounded me as I hurried through the halls.

My steps slowed slightly when I reached Isaac’s office door. I tried to catch my breath‚ but anxiety pushed me forward. I didn’t want to waste another second.

I didn’t even bother knocking.

I just pushed the door open‚ ready to apologize and start my day as a medical secretary.

But the next thing I saw froze me.
