~Chapter 367~

~Valerie’s POV~

I wondered how Solstice knew, since I was sure I did not give myself away.

I got my answer from he next response. "You forget, Valerie, I was trained to be a spy like you. I know when something’s up."

I smiled at her. Guess I’d be telling he rmy secret soon.

"Oh, and don’t forget that was the reason why Dad agreed to let me come back to your school."

I gave a nod. "Sure."

"So spill."

She foled her arms, sat crossed legged on the bed and waited.

"I found them."

Her brows furrowed when she heard that. "Found who... whoa, wait!"

Solstice jumped up on my bed, with her hands clasped around her mouth. "No way." Even though her voice was muffled, I heard her loud and clear.

"You found Nightshade Thorn?"

I nodded, trying to keep myself from laughing at her reaction.

"Oh my God! I could scream."

"No, you won’t." I jumped up with her on the bed and collapsed my hand around her mouth before coming down the bed with her.

Solstice still took a while to fully take in the information but by the time she did, she was all smiles and teary eyed.

"I’m happy for you."

"Not yet. I haven’t entered yet."

"Why, what’s wrong?"

"I just finished my second test. So until the last, well..."

"Okies. No biggie."

My phone’s notification rang out. I immediately went to check it out, hoping it was a message from Xade or Dristan.

Ace: Can you come to the Alphas’ House? We need to see Principal Whitmore. Well technically, Xander wants to report in.

I did not know hwo to feel about this. So quickly, I replied, "Coming," dropped my phone and went to take a bath, leaving Solstice to herself.

"Boy trouble I guess?" she calle dout after me.

I ignored her and went to shower. By the time I was in the Heirs’ house, I met everyone there except for Dristan obviously.

The grim look on their faces spoke a lot.

"Hey."

Ace walked up to me, hugged me and gave me a peck on the lips.

Ace’s peck lingered a second longer than usual soft, grounding kiss he gave at times like this.

The kind of gesture that said, brace yourself. I caught the unease in his eyes before he looked away.

Ash gave a curt nod from the armchair, his posture rigid. Xade leaned against the wall, arms crossed, his jaw tight.

Kai stood by the window, hands shoved into his pockets, eyes shadowed. Axel, usually the loudest, was uncharacteristically silent, his gaze fixed on the floor.

And then there was Xander—standing in the centre of the room like he’d been waiting for judgment.

"Okay," I said slowly, scanning their faces. "What’s going on?"

No one answered immediately. The air in the Heirs’ House felt thick with unspoken words. The low hum of the chandelier buzzed faintly overhead, filling the silence.

"You may want to sit down," Xander said finally.

For a second, I didn’t process it. My mind blinked blankly between his words and his face. Impersonating Dristan?

The words barely escaped my lips. My heart pounded so hard it hurt. Dristan? His mother?
