I watched in horror as Simone picked up the knife and walked towards Lucas, her face contorted with a cruel smile.
His phone buzzed. It was the ME. Simone glanced at it and kicked it away.
She grabbed Lucas’s hair, slapped him hard, then caressed his bruised cheek with a feigned tenderness. “Lucas, what happened to your face? Me? Don’t be silly. I would never hurt you. I’m your sweet little sister. It must have been Lydia. Yes, blame it on her. Everything bad that happens is always her fault. Isn’t that right? Hee hee hee…”
Tears of frustration and anger streamed down my face.
Simone, bored with her twisted game, checked the bathroom, then spread the blood-soaked tarp on the floor, pulling on a pair of gloves. She grabbed Lucas’s collar and dragged him towards the bathroom.
“Lydia? The more you two suffer, the happier I am. This is what you deserve!”
“My father was a human trafficker. Your father put him away, then had him executed. I was only six years old.”
“I saw you at the police station that day. You were so innocent, so happy. It was disgusting. I swore I would destroy your happiness, kill your entire family, avenge my father!”
“That’s why I killed your parents ten years ago. And today, it’s not only the anniversary of their deaths, but also the fifteenth anniversary of my father’s execution.”
Lucas’s body got stuck in the doorway. Simone, losing her patience, grabbed the knife, her eyes glittering with a murderous intent.
“You know why I killed Lydia first? I wanted to kill you first, because you didn’t love her. But she loved you, her dear brother. Her death wouldn’t have affected you, but yours… that would have broken her heart. I wanted to see that.”
“But she refused to cooperate. She wouldn’t call you, wouldn't lure you into my trap.”
“So, I punished her. I made her experience three hours of pure hell. And now, it’s your turn.”
Her laughter echoed through the empty house as she raised the knife high above her head.
“They say Thanksgiving is about family coming together. Well, I’m a generous soul. I’ll send your whole family to hell to reunite. Hahaha!”
