Andrew removed his hand, his voice seeming even deeper than before. "The fever hasn't broken."

Emily shook her head, her voice soft and a little hoarse. "It's fine. I've already taken some medicine."

Andrew's brow furrowed slightly.

"You don't have to drive us," Emily said to him. "We can manage on our own."

He paid her no mind, walking past her to take both suitcases from Elizabeth. "A lot of people are trying to get to the airport right now, and there are no cars available. If you want to make your flight, you'll have to take my car. I've already arranged for a car to take your employees."

"Let's go," he added. "I'm heading to the airport as well."

Emily was silent for a moment before saying quietly, "Thank you."

Andrew pulled the suitcases and walked ahead. With her hands now free, Elizabeth supported Emily as they followed behind.

Elizabeth desperately wanted to whisper something to Emily, but with their subject of gossip walking right in front of them, she feared being overheard and held her tongue.

When they reached the resort lobby, it was just as Andrew had said. The entrance was crowded with guests and their luggage, but there were no taxis or cars waiting. It seemed everyone was waiting for a ride.

Andrew led them through the crowd, and a sedan pulled up right on cue, stopping in front of them.

The people waiting behind them started to stir restlessly.

The driver got out and placed Emily's and Elizabeth's suitcases in the trunk.

Seeing this, the restless crowd fell silent.

Andrew opened the car door for Emily. She murmured a thank you and was about to duck inside when she heard the sound of hurried footsteps approaching.

"Hello, Ms. Blair."

Emily paused and turned around.

It was a woman with an anxious expression on her face. Emily recognized her as the marketing director of some company.

Emily offered a polite smile. "Hello. Can I help you with something?"

Elizabeth answered for her. "She has a fever."

"Oh my," the woman said with concern. "Have you taken any medicine?"

Emily pressed her lips together and answered softly, "Yes, I have."

"You need to take good care of yourself, Ms. Blair," the woman continued. "Your health is more important than work."

Emily nodded. Despite her dizziness, she answered patiently, "Yes, I know."

But the woman wasn't finished. She turned her attention to Andrew in the front seat. "Mr. Lane, are wedding bells in the future for you and Ms. Blair?"

Elizabeth's eyebrow twitched violently. She couldn't help but wonder how this woman had managed to climb the corporate ladder to become a marketing director.

A heavy silence filled the car.
