Summary for Chapter 71: My mate, My exception

Summary of Chapter 71 – A pivotal chapter in My mate, My exception by Patrick Rob

The chapter Chapter 71 is one of the most intense moments in My mate, My exception, written by Patrick Rob. With signature elements of the Internet genre, this part of the story reveals deep conflicts, shocking revelations, and decisive character changes. A must-read for anyone following the narrative.

"Yeah, just a few day's ago a vampire walked into our territory waving the test in our faces." Tears are still rolling down his face, and I know why.

"I probably lost it, the baby, I don't think it could have survived this..... This abuse..."

I start crying too, as Jake hunches over, letting his tears drip onto my own face.

Even after the beating I received, I feel better now, here with Jake.

We cry for a while. For each others loss that is both of ours. We cry for our baby.

"Maybe it is okay, maybe it lived Jake." I say after I feel all my tears have been lost.

"Yeah maybe." He sniffs. He wipes his eyes and sits up straighter, right before more people enter the room, Jake's dad among them.

"Alpha." The all mumble, not looking Jake in the eye. I still wish to ask why they are calling him that, but I'm afraid of showing disrespect. Jake answers my question without me asking anyways.

"I challenged Tyler for the alpha position, I won." He tells me. I frown, confused.

"Is Tyler the beta now, then?"

"No," he draws out. "Tyler is dead. I killed him."

The news is too much to process. My Jake, my kind and sweet Jake was a murder. He had killed someone, he had killed his own brother.

I push the thought aside and tried to soak in this moment with Jake instead.

We wait awhile until finally Jake stares towards the doorway. I glance towards it to, but it takes me a few seconds after him until I can finally hear the footsteps.

Denny enters the room again along with approximately ten other men and women.

"Alpha, the house is completely in our controlled. Those who surrendered are captured; those who fought, are killed."

I would normally be disgusted with this report, but after what those monsters put me through, I felt nothing. Maybe I was the monster now.

"Luca and Micah?" Jake asks back to Denny.

"Micah never tried to leave the pack house and Luca is captured."

"Good." I don't ask why Micah was already at the pack house, but just keep my hold on Jake, deciding I'd never let go again.

Two people step forward; a man and a woman. When they get a few feet away from us Jake lets out a warning growl.

Another man growls from the group that still watches us from the doorway.

Jake whips his head towards the noise but does not move away from me.

"Harland I'm not going to hurt your mate so stand down." He orders, and the words seem to make me happier.

I know mates aren't uncommon, but I felt happy that there was another couple here. One that hadn't been separated for weeks and probably were happy together.

Molly returns to touching my stomach, head, and arms. I try to refrain from wincing, squeezing the heck out of Jake's hand. After three excruciating minutes, Molly leans back, but doesn't stand up; remaining at Jake's eye level.

"Her injury's will need to be attended to soon, but I think it would be more beneficial to move her now." Jake nods and most of the people move out of the room. Molly, Harland, Denny, and the other medic guy remained, with Jake of course.

"Jen, I'm gonna put you under now, okay? With the extent of your injuries I don't want you to be in pain when we move you." Molly tells me while rummaging through a bag that appeared beside her.

"Okay."

I feel a pinch on my forearm but it's nothing compared to everything else. Before I pass out, I stay conscious for a few seconds. My mind is fuzzy but the pain is subsiding.

"Jake, don't forget to save Kayla, okay?" I don't know if he will understand my words, but I as I fall into an unconscious state, I'm hoping he does.
