"Get out!"

With me in his arms, my father kicked Evelynn squarely in the stomach, sending her flying backward. Without sparing her another glance, he carried me and ran out of the hall.

To everyone's surprise, Evelynn's father stepped forward to block him.

"Jack, where are you going? Today is your engagement banquet with Evelynn. Everyone's already here…"

This sentence was the final straw, igniting my father's fury.

"To hell with the engagement banquet!" he roared.

"If anything happens to my daughter, I'll kill your entire family."

The room fell silent, no one daring to move.

Ten minutes later, my father rushed me to the hospital. When he learned from the doctor about the extent of my injuries—my disfigurement and the severe trauma to my body—his face darkened to the point of being terrifying.

Evelynn, Lucy, her father, and all their relatives came to the hospital.

"I'm sorry, this is a misunderstanding. I didn't know she was your daughter," Evelynn said pitifully, tears brimming in her eyes as she looked at Jack.

Lucy forced a smile, repeatedly trying to explain.

"Oh, Jack, why didn't you tell us earlier or call us? None of this would've happened if we'd known."

"Please calm down. Evelynn didn't recognize Miss Torres and mistakenly thought she was a mistress. It's all because of the dinner you had with her last night that Evelynn misunderstood."

"Besides, you kicked Evelynn too. Let's just move on and finalize the marriage."

I closed my eyes in despair. Even now, all Evelynn's family cared about was this marriage. For them, signing their names at the engagement banquet was a guaranteed ticket to wealth and luxury.

I mourned the fact that my father, out of all the women in the world, had chosen this vicious one. They hadn't even given me the chance to call for help. They had tortured me for an entire day.

"Your family will never have peace for the rest of your lives."

Lucy, indignant, retorted, "And so what? We already explained it was an accident."

"We even came to the hospital to apologize to Miss Torres. Why are you being so unreasonable? It's just a little girl. Evelynn will give you a big, healthy son in the future!"

My father turned to Lucy, his voice icy.

"If apologies were enough, why do we need the police?"

As he spoke, several police officers filed into the room.

Seeing the officers, Evelynn turned pale, her eyes darting to my father in panic.

"Jack… are you serious?" she stammered.
