"Oh," I gasp, looking up at him.

"You look really cute today, Melvin," he says before closing the gap between our faces and covering my mouth with his own.

My first kiss. My first kiss ever is with Alex Royce. Within my shoes, my toes curl in and every single strand of hair on my body stands on end. And then I'm floating, like a leaf in wind, and the only thing that anchors me to the ground are my lips affixed to Alex Royce's.

And then he was lifting his head to end our kiss. "Melvin," he says, pushing my hair out of my eyes. "Well, hot damn."

I make a noise that sounds like a giggle. "Why did you do that?"

"I don't know." His face remains inches from mine, our lips almost close enough to touch. "But I really liked it. Did you?"

"Oh yes."

"Good." He releases my arms and cradles the back of my neck before kissing me again.

With my arms free, I embrace Alex as he continues to put more sucking pressure on my mouth. I gasp when the tip of his tongue taps my lower lip and plunge my fingers into his hair.

All too soon, the school bell announcing the end of the lunch period rings. Alex lifts his head again before burying his face in my neck.

"You smell good, Melvin. Why have I never noticed how good you smell?"

He's nuzzling my ear, pressing kisses along my jaw, chin, and back down to my throat. He's making soft growling noises.

"Alex, we have to go. The bell rang."

His hand tightens around my hip and he groans before lifting his head once more from my neck. "We haven't even started, Melvin. Don't think you're getting away."

He gets up with the natural grace God gave a wolf and pulls me along. He brushes off the dirt and grass from my back before taking care of his trousers.

I tell him to turn around so I could check if he had dirt or grass on him, but he is, as always, impeccable. I probably look like I took a tumble down a hill.

The class after lunch is American Literature, which Alex and I share. He gives me his hand and it's just the most natural thing for me to join mine with his.

He smiles down at me. "Let's hustle, Melvin. There are many things I want to do with you and detention isn't one of them."

We get to class without him once letting go of my hand. I could feel the eyes of everyone staring at us, but for the first time in a long time, I couldn't care less. I strolled down the halls holding Alex Royce's hand with my chin up and my hair bouncing behind me.

He leads me to a desk next to his and kisses my hand before letting it go. I slap his arm and he laughs at me.
