"Claire."

"Oh, I thought you were asking about Madeline. After all, she's your precious little treasure."

Spending so much time with Claire had clearly rubbed off on her; she had mastered the art of sarcastic jabs.

And she had to admit, it felt fantastic.

The uglier Felix's expression became, the better she felt.

"I've already decided to send her abroad, and I've told Claire as much. I'm hoping you can talk some sense into Claire so we can go back to how we used to be."

His tone lacked its usual arrogant edge, yet the sheer audacity of his words still made her brow twitch in annoyance.

"Mr. Quigley, are you familiar with the phrase 'what's done cannot be undone'? If not, I highly suggest you go back to grade school and relearn the basics."

Wasting another breath on him was completely pointless.

Noreen turned on her heel and walked away.

After chatting with a few business acquaintances in the lobby, she walked outside just in time to see Madeline pulling up to pick Felix up.
