Looking at Helen, who was frightened when she opened her eyes to see him, Charles was very upset. For he realized that her feelings towards him were fear, not like, nor love.

Charles didn't know what to do. In the beginning, he ignored her love for him. Now, all she left was fear.

This feeling was all caused to him bit by bit over the years.

To change her attitude, Charles felt that he was under a lot of pressure. He began to regret and hate his previous behaviors. He didn't recognize her affection to him clearly.

Seeing Charles' expression, Helen couldn't help but recall the stupid thing she did yesterday. "Could it be that he wants to punish me now?"

Helen became nervous again. Seeing that Helen was getting nervous, Charles hurriedly said, "Awake now? Get up. It's getting late."

This was the first time he had ever felt that working hours were so long.

It was finally a noon break. Just as Helen was hesitating about whether to go to his company, Charles called her personally and asked her to go over to have lunch in a very normal tone.

Helen comforted herself that yesterday and this morning, he did not mention the matter that she put the phone down. This might mean that he was not angry at her.

Helen became relieved and went to Martin Group. Like before, they finished lunch silently. Then, Helen stood up and prepared to leave.

"Wait a moment," Charles hastened to say.

Helen's heart hitched as she thought "No!"

But she turned around and calmly asked, "Sir, was there anything else?"

Charles didn't know what to say.

Helen looked at Charles with a puzzled expression, and he said, "Rest here for a while!"

Helen's body stiffened and she let him hug her. She was originally confused but now she trembled when she heard his words. Her eyes turned red and tears rolled in her eyes. She did not know why Charles suddenly apologized to her, but these words reminded her of the tears and suffering all these years.

Feeling the woman's body soften and trembled, he was so sad. He thought that he was really an asshole in the past.

He patted her shoulder and said, "If you want to cry, then cry!"

Just at that moment, a woman's repressed cry came.

Helen's legs softened. Charles sat with her on the carpet and hugged her. He heard her crying louder and louder. He patted and shook her gently. He hoped that she would feel better.

After a while, her cry gradually stopped.

Charles picked her up and sat on the sofa, letting Helen sit on his lap. They hugged each other and sat quietly. Helen occasionally sobbed.

Charles was heartbroken and would like to slap himself.

After a long time, Helen stopped sobbing. Charles lowered his head and saw that she was so tired that fallen asleep.

Charles stood up and carried her to the bed. Looking at the tears on Helen's face, Charles reached out and gently wiped them away. He made up his mind that he would never let her suffer any harm in the future.
