After tidying up, Peter saw that Darleen was still asleep. He quietly silenced her phone and went to find York.

York was standing alone by the floor-to-ceiling window, lost in thought. He was tall and lean, dressed in black trousers and a white shirt with black sleeve garters. With his back to the door, his handsome silhouette exuded a faint air of weariness and desolation.

Peter walked up beside him and took the ashtray from the windowsill. "Has the Ferguson Group run out of talent? Why are you pushing a young girl so hard, forcing her to become a career woman?"

York glanced at him. "If you feel so bad for her, you can come and help."

Peter scoffed. "You want me, the heir to the Louis Group, to come work for the Ferguson Group? Why don't you just ask for the moon?"

"Your brother is running the Louis Group, so there's not much room for you to shine. Come here, and I'll give you a real opportunity," York offered.

Peter rolled his eyes before his expression turned serious. "Darleen is already twenty-four. If you keep her working at this pace, she'll never have time to date. What are you going to do if she ends up single forever?"

Standing before the window, York looked out at the skyscrapers of Capital City. "If you're not capable enough to make her your wife, then stay out of it."

York's words hit a nerve, and Peter immediately shot back, "You managed to marry someone, but you couldn't keep her, could you?"

He pressed on. "If you're so tough, then stop throwing up, stop being in pain, stop crying. Why don't you just get Claudia to forgive you?"

The color visibly drained from York's face. Peter quickly backtracked. "Hey, I was just kidding. Don't take it to heart."
