Claudia stood frozen, watching as several relatives helped Wendy up the hill.

Suddenly, a black umbrella appeared over her head. Claudia turned to see Hugh.

He was dressed in a formal black suit, his expression solemn. "Let's go. I'll walk up with you."

The two of them climbed the steps to the halfway point on the hillside.

Claudia looked out and saw a sea of people dressed in black.
