Jeremy had dealt with plenty of similar situations, so he was familiar with the ropes.

She sat beside him and said, "Our company will issue the refund according to procedure. No need to rush, Mr. Sulton. I'll take down the details, and the money will be transferred in due time."

"In due time? And what time would that be?" Jeremy pressed.

He stared at Laura and continued, "The process needs to be completed today. I've brought professional financial auditors with me. They'll be watching as your team transfers the funds."

Laura's expression changed instantly. "We've promised to refund the money, Mr. Sulton. But it has to follow protocol."

"I'm not that gullible. If you don't agree to process my refunds today, I'll slam your company's so-called official statement the moment I walk out the door. When your company's name is in ruins, how will you explain that to your boss?"

Laura glanced back at Owen, knowing this was something she couldn't decide on her own. Owen stepped away to make a call.

Jeremy kept his eyes on Owen, who gave Laura a nod moments later. The latter turned back to Jeremy and said, "Have your team go to the finance department. Our company keeps its word, but we expect you to clear up our rumors online."

"What makes you think you deserve that kind of favor?" Jeremy got up and headed for the finance office.

Meanwhile, Laura turned back to Owen and asked, "Why are we giving in that easily?"

What were they going to do now that they were refunding this much money? She'd spent all the commission she earned, so what would she do if the company made her pay it back?

Owen gave her a glance and replied, "The Cantrell family is a special case. For the other common folks, just register them and make them wait. We'll stall until this whole thing blows over."
