Noelle felt extremely disgusted upon thinking about the Liddells. "I know, right? The Liddells have always been arrogant and selfish. They never listen to what others have to say and always think that they're in the right."

She looked at Cedric and continued, "The people who abducted me came from the scam center."

Cedric replied, "I know. I already interrogated the two people who abducted you back then, and they confessed everything. They said that the boss of the scam center originally ordered them to kill you, but they didn't go through with it since they just wanted money."

Noelle was horrified after hearing the truth. "Seems like I got really lucky back then."

She would never have had the chance to see Cedric again if her abductors had actually listened to the orders of the scam center head.

She would not possibly be lucky enough to be reborn once more.

Cedric explained, "It's not just luck. It's partly because the boss of the scam center is too ruthless.

"The two abductors knew that they'd be in serious trouble even if they went back to the boss because of Ivy's failed plan, so they decided to take the money and run away instead. They didn't dare offend me either, so they didn't dare lay a hand on you."

It was just human nature. Upon thinking about it carefully, Noelle recognized that her survival depended on a bit of luck. She would have been dead had any of the plans gone wrong.

She looked at Cedric and said, "From what I know, Carl has connections with the locals around here, especially with the military.

"He's definitely not going to let me off easily. He'll definitely send out his men to look for me soon."

Cedric replied, "I have connections, too, you know? I've already made all the necessary preparations and built all the connections I need while I was looking for you."

He reached out for her face and continued, "I won't let Carl off for this."
