Ariana gave Victor a faint smile. “I’ve heard that you employ many highly–trained bodyguards. Coincidentally, I’ve noticed someone following me recently. I’m sure you understand what I’m implying, Mr. Smith.” 

She chose not to expose him. 

Victor must have instructed someone to watch her. However, now that she was stuck on the same sinking ship as him, getting off would depend entirely on Victor’s whims.

“I should listen carefully, so I can fix that bad habit.” Ariana hummed. 

“I like how smart, perceptive, and… amusing you are.” Victor smiled. It looked odd against his sharp features. 

Noticing Victor’s mocking stare, Ariana retorted, “Let’s not heat around the bush, Mr. Smith. What brings you here this time? Surely, it’s not to mock me.” 

After Brian publicly called off their engagement, the news quickly spread. Brian had done it to humiliate her.

Hunter parked the car, and Ariana followed Victor out, puzzled. 

When she saw they were at the Hicks residence, the realization hit her. “Victor! What are you planning to do?” 

“Come,” Victor said, dragging her by the wrist toward the Hicks residence. 

The Hicks family was rich, but far from being at the top of clea College. 

The once glorious villa was a mess and shattered glasses littered the courtyard.

A middle–aged couple was begging for mercy. The balding man was Maddie’s father, and the extravagantly dressed woman beside him was her mother.
