I stared at my phone as my thumb hovered over the dial button. I had been patient and waited long enough and every minute we wasted was another minute that Raina was in the grasp of that son of a bitch.
Alex wasn’t the only one going crazy. Yes, his wife was in danger but she was my little sister and it felt like I was standing in a land mine because one wrong move or step would make everything explode.
I finally pressed the call button after I let out a determined sigh. The phone didn’t ring more than twice before Carter picked the call.
“It is time,” I said in a low and sharp voice that was filled with no hesitation.
“It’s about damn time,” Carter replied with an exhale like he had been holding his breath for the whole week that Raina had been missing. “I’ll come in with a team, but Dom you have to listen to me and not do anything stupid. You have to wait for my signal before you take any step.”
I didn’t answer. And after a while, I nodded my head but when I realized he couldn’t see me, I spoke into the phone. “Okay.”
There was no time to wait or think twice before taking the next move.
The minute the call ended, I was already in my car, driving through the city like a mad man that had just been left loose.
Cale’s house was sitting on top of a hill like it was some kind of a castle and it towered over every other house on the street. The house was beautiful and well constructed but I wasn’t here to admire its architecture.
Carter’s team was quick and they moved in with a perfect precision with their guns raised as their voices barked incoherent commands—one only trained men would understand.
When they got into the house, Cale tried to act smart and act like he was the victim.
“This is fucking disrespectful? Do you even know who I am?” He yelled as he stepped out of the bathroom with his bathroom wrapped around his waist.
