I stood frozen beside the stranger, my heart pouring in my chest as screams would echo from the pit ahead.
I took my time to look around the room and I realized that it was a fight club and people passed by us to get to where the ring was.
The makeshift ring in the middle of the room was caged off by rusted metal fencing and two men were already going at it. Blood spread as punches landed and the crowd roared with approval.
It was not just a fight. It was a fucking war zone.
My eyes darted around, searching for him and that was when I spotted him.
Kye stepped into the ring without a shirt on, just taped wrists and black pants. Stone cold expression and an aura only the devil carried. His eyes were dark, he first glanced at me before darting his eyes away to focus on his opponent, a man twice his size, covered in ink and scars and anger.
The bell rang, signaling the start of the fight and I momentarily forgot how to breathe.
What the hell does he think he’s doing? He was fast… faster than I could comprehend and he was brutal. Every move of his was precise and filled with calculated violence. But the other man landed a hit, and then another and I flinched as Kye’s head jerked back, blood flying from his mouth.
Why is he doing this? He could die.
I wanted to scream, wanted to run to him and yell stop, that none of this was worth it and that he shouldn’t kill himself and that… but I couldn’t even if I tried. Fear had its chains on me.
I just sat there and watched because a part of me knew this was what he wanted me to see.
For like hours the fight went on. And from moments where I could watch, I finally stayed eyed glued to him. Hoping he would at least survive the fight because there was no way he was going to win the fight.
