"Pervert!" Charlotte's eyes suddenly welled up with tears. The scalding droplets fell onto Jack's face, stinging as sharply as the sunlight.

A sudden pang of regret hit him. Had he lost control because it had been so long since he'd been with a woman?

He shouldn't have violated her like this. Given her sheltered upbringing, no one had likely ever dared to handle her so roughly.

Red fingerprints marked her pale thighs. After all, at one point, he had indeed used too much force and hurt her, hadn't he?

Jack rolled over and helped her to her feet. He placed the coffee cup back on the table. Then, he picked up the scattered books one by one and returned them to their shelves.

As he slid the last book into place, a quiet worry gnawed at him. Would Charlotte, in her fury, kick him out? If so, his friendship with Zane and the others would likely come to an abrupt end too. After all, in the truest sense, Charlotte and Zane belonged to the same circle—not him.

"Stop! Don't you dare leave!"

Charlotte strode forward, her earrings swaying slightly with each step. Her emotions had calmed somewhat, but her eyes were still red as if she'd been deeply wronged. The sight was enough to twist Jack's heart. If he didn't leave now, he might not be able to stop himself from violating her again.

As if realizing her words had been too harsh, she added, "Where are you going?"

"Home!" He gave her a smile over his shoulder. He knew her prideful nature—this was probably the last time he'd ever set foot here.
