"Oh!" Bella trembled, and her face instantly drained of color. Yet, she forced a smile. "C-Congratulations! W-Who is she? Is she pretty?" The more Bella acted as if she didn't care, the more she actually wanted to know. Even her voice started to quiver.

"She's beautiful and my childhood sweetheart." Fascination and gentleness flickered in Jack's eyes as he said this.

She knew her time with Jack had reached its end. From now on, this man no longer belonged to her.

She wanted to say some blessings, but couldn't bring herself to it. She couldn't possibly lie to herself.

"Bye, Bella. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!"

As footsteps faded, Bella looked up and saw Jack's figure slowly disappearing beneath the lights. She wondered if this farewell with Jack truly signified this was the last time they would ever meet.

She had once imagined what it might be like to see him again five to ten years down the line. But now, faced with the stark reality, she knew that it didn't matter if it was five or ten years—she would likely never see him again.

"Jack came to give a speech at our university. The host from Central Media interviewed him."

Bella knew her mother knew everything about Jack. She doubted that her mother would not pay attention to Jack at all.

Clarice was at a loss for words. Being interviewed by Central Media was enough to prove that Jack had reached such a remarkable achievement.

Clarice recalled Jack's glorious moment during Alnewgo University's centennial celebration and couldn't help but admit that she didn't have an accurate impression of him. This young man had long since outgrown the label of a small-town exam taker and had become someone worthy of her respect.
