Damon:
She didn’t see me at first.
Her steps were steady, her head dipped slightly forward as if the weight of the world was still pressing down on her shoulders, even in heels and that ridiculous buttoned-up blouse. Her hair was in a loose bun, strands slipping around her face as she exited the building with a few coworkers trailing behind her.
I wished that she was not as stubborn, at least I would have provided her what she needed. But no, Sienna had to get what she wanted and she had to do it the way that she wanted, otherwise I was stopping her from what she was going to do.
It took her less than two seconds to notice me once she stepped off the last stair.
Sienna froze.
She had caught my scent.
Her dark brown eyes blinked once, then again, like she couldn’t quite believe I was standing there, leaning against the hood of my car like this was just any other day and I had every right to be outside her job waiting.
I didn’t.
But I didn’t care.
“Damon?” she asked, eyes narrowing with disbelief. “What the hell?”
I shoved my hands into the pockets of my coat, my lips tilting at the corner. “You look like someone just slapped you with a folder. Considering the fact that you are just getting out of work…”
“That’s because I feel like someone just slapped me with a folder,” she muttered, taking a cautious step forward. ” What are you doing here? And how the hell did you find me? How the hell did you find out where I was working?”
“Inviting you to lunch,” I said simply, pushing off the hood of the car.
Her brows shot up. “Lunch? Like… food lunch?”
“No, I meant the metaphorical lunch,” I said dryly. “Yes, Sienna. Actual lunch. With food. With me. You need to actually go out and be somewhere that is not simply work.”
Her jaw tightened, her fingers tightening around the strap of her purse. “How did you even know where I worked? You chose not to answer my question and don’t think that I’m ignoring it.”
“I’m the Alpha,” I shrugged. “I make it my business to know things.”
She narrowed her eyes. “That’s called stalking. And that’s called creepy, by the way.”
“Call it what you want.” I stepped closer. “Creep, you aren’t alright. I’m still taking you out.”
She crossed her arms. “And what about Isla? You do realize that leaving her alone is not a good option, especially for so long?”
“She’s with my mother. I doubt that she’s going to miss you being with mother. You know there are her grandparents and they’re going to spoil her rotten. Trust me, I’ve seen my father with her and if I had been told that he would meet this gentle with the child, I would have chosen to laugh or barf. Either way, don’t worry, she’s safe.” I teased, and she raised an amused eyebrow. “Come on. We’re going out.”
Her mouth opened like she had another protest lined up, but then she glanced down at herself and winced. “I’m not dressed for anything. I’ve been on my feet all morning. I’m literally wearing office-slave attire.”
I chuckled. “Then we’ll fix it. And we’re going for lunch. We’re not going for a run. You can sit down. Actually, that’s what people do when they go for lunch. They sit and they eat.”
“Fix it?” she echoed, frowning. “I need to check who you are and what you’ve done to Damon. That is something that I’m going to need to make sure of first before I go anywhere with you.”
“The mall’s five minutes away.” I opened the passenger side door for her. “Pick something you like. Something that’ll make you comfortable. Then we’ll eat. You’ll find out if I am Damon or not once we’re out.”
She raised a brow. “You’re staring. I would take that as a you like the dress. Good. I’m buying and you are not paying.”
“Am I?” I said, heading towards the cashier. “And over my dead body, you’re not paying a dime.”
“Like you’ve never seen me in clothes before.” She said, and I smirked.
“I’ve seen you in far less.” I said, nodding at the saleswoman.
Her cheeks flushed a beautiful shade of red, and she rolled her eyes, brushing past me. “You’re lucky I don’t throw a shoe at your head. And please do not take the money from him. Take it from me, I do not want him paying.”
“I’d deserve it,” I said, trailing after her, unable to stop the grin on my face. “And miss, I doubt that you should be taking anything from her. What would they call me? A barbarian or a monster, if I allowed her to be the one to pay while I stood and watched. I’m sorry but I’m a man of class and I’m not going to allow my woman to pay.”
“Well, that would require me to be your woman, wouldn’t it, Damon?” Sienna sassed. The saleswoman, laughed and looked at the two of us before turning her attention to me.
“You too are cute. But he is technically right. Plus, it’s a free dress for you. Own it.”
“See, even the saleswoman knows the rules of men.”
“Or is she simply doing me a favor.” Sienna said, rolling her eyes before she looked at the woman. Both women laughed and I smirked before paying for the dress.
“Well, favor or not, you look beautiful and now I think that it’s time for us to head to lunch…”
