Chapter 306
Helena-
My body suddenly stiffened.
Ferris was very perceptive and immediately noticed my change: “What’s wrong?”
I shook my head: “Nothing.”
His brow furrowed slightly, and his good mood instantly dissipated.
“If you don’t want to go, I can go alone.”
“Mary already said that since I’m his sister–in–law, I should attend his engagement.”
Hearing me personally acknowledge being Dennis’s sister in law, his expression finally eased slightly.
After returning home, we inventoried the gifts, and I collapsed directly on the sofa to rest.
Not long after, a phone call came in.
I answered the phone, and before I could speak, a familiar voice came through
“Aurora… this is Dennis.”
My heart suddenly tightened.
Although we had met before, we had never chatted privately. Given our positions, I had always maintained distance.
“What’s the matter?”
I originally had many questions I wanted to ask, but when it came time to speak, I couldn’t ask a single one.
“Could we talk in person?” His voice carried a hint of caution.
He had tried several times to see me but was refused each time, so this time he simply called directly.
Thinking of how he often helped me as a child, I ultimately couldn’t bring myself to refuse: “Okay.”
“Turn right when you leave your house and walk 200 meters. I’m waiting there.”
I was stunned – so he had already arrived.
After hanging up, I grabbed a coat and umbrella and went out. Ferris was still busy in the study and had no idea I had left.
Heavy snow was falling, and the world was completely white.
I hadn’t walked long when I saw a low–key black Maybach parked beside a simple dwelling ahead.
I stopped, not daring to approach rashly.
The car door opened, and Dennis got out first, wearing a black coat. Without an umbrella, he walked directly toward me.
He had driven himself, apparently having made his decision long ago if I wasn’t willing to meet, he would go back and find another way.
I slowly approached, looking at that extremely familiar face, my heart feeling dazed.
He and Ferris really looked too much alike.
Snowflakes fell on his eyelashes, and my eyes grew slightly warm.

Chapter 306
“Don’t you recognize me anymore?” Dennis asked with a smile.
In that instant, past memories flooded back like a tide-
That former Ferris seemed to be standing before me again.
My throat tightened: “I… of course I recognize you.”
Even my voice trembled when I spoke.
To be honest, I had never dared to actively seek out Dennis to clarify things, not only because I was married with a child, but also because of nervousness and fear.
“Then why weren’t you willing to see me before?” His tone was gentle.
I lowered my eyes, not daring to look directly at him! “I… was embarrassed.”
I didn’t see that the corners of his eyes were slightly red.
“It’s cold outside. Let’s talk in the car, okay?”
His voice was as warm as winter sunlight.
I nodded: “Okay.”
The car had heating and was very warm.
But after holding back for a long time, I still asked the question in my heart: “Can I ask why you told me before… that you were Ferris?”
