Juliet turned toward the voice and spotted Cynthia holding hands with Dominic. A flicker of satisfaction flashed in Juliet’s eyes.

The businesswoman beside Juliet leaned in and asked quietly, “Is that…?”

Juliet smiled. “My younger sister.”

The woman nodded thoughtfully, already calculating behind her polite expression.

Juliet acted as if she hadn’t noticed. She spoke in a gentle tone, “I’ll go over for a bit, Ms. Wanda. We’ll catch up soon.”

Ms. Wanda simply nodded, watching Juliet walk away, lost in her own thoughts.

The engagement ceremony was about to begin. Dominic found a seat off to the side.

Cynthia watched her sister approach, relief washing over her. She schooled her face into calm as Juliet reached her, gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind Cynthia’s ear.

“You look lovely,” Juliet said with a soft smile.

Cynthia beamed at the praise, replying, “Not as beautiful as you, Juliet.”

Juliet chuckled. “The engagement party’s starting soon. Let’s sit and talk.”

Cynthia nodded and chose an empty table. She tugged Dominic’s sleeve, signaling for him to join them.

She kept a tight hold on his arm until he took the seat beside her, finally relaxing a little. After all, Juliet had made it clear last night—she was to stick close to Dominic, and she wasn’t about to let him drift off to another table.
