It wasn’t until Nathan and his brother arrived that Miranda’s smile finally returned.

“Nathan, what took you so long?” she called out, her tone lightening instantly. “Garry and Dominic have been waiting for ages.”

Nathan offered a sheepish grin. “Sorry about that. There was a situation at the office—we got here as soon as we could.”

Viola stood up just then, eager to help. “I saved the suite next door for you two. Let me show you the way.”

Dominic, meanwhile, remained focused on the game, coaching Cynthia through her next move. He showed no intention of getting up.

Miranda turned to him, her voice gentle. “Dominic, Nathan and Garry are here.”

Dominic nodded, finally glancing up at the Guthrie brothers. “Go ahead, I just want to see how this round ends. I’ll join you in a minute.”

Nathan had noticed Dominic sitting behind a woman, quietly giving her advice. It struck him as odd—Dominic was hardly the nurturing type. Any woman who could keep Dominic’s attention like this must be someone special.

“Looks intense. Mind if we watch for a bit?” Nathan said, curiosity sparking in his eyes as he stepped forward.

Cynthia was ready for her final play. If she drew the right card, she’d clinch the pot—over a million on the table. As her turn came, she nudged the man behind her with her elbow.

“Nick, do me a favor? Draw for me.”

Without hesitation, Dominic rose and drew the card for her. He barely glanced at it, brushing his thumb over the edge, then murmured, “You’ve got it.”
