The man didn't make things difficult for her. He pulled out his phone, tapped on something, and held it out for her to scan.

Cynthia breathed an inward sigh of relief. After scanning the code, she asked politely, "How much is the coat?"

She kept her eyes down, waiting for Dominic to name a price so she could enter the amount.

But when she glanced at her phone, she realized the screen wasn't showing a payment page—it was a friend request prompt instead.

Cynthia froze for a second, a flicker of confusion in her eyes, but she clicked "Add Friend" anyway. Maybe the price was too high for a simple scan-and-pay, she thought. Perhaps there were limits on the transaction.

Across from her, Dominic's elegant fingers tapped his own screen twice, accepting her request.

Cynthia opened the transfer page and said quietly, "I'll send you the payment right away."

Dominic slipped his phone back into his pocket, his tone cool and even. "I'm not sure what the coat costs. Once I get a quote from the seller, I'll let you know."

"Oh, okay," Cynthia replied, nodding.

Dominic shot her an inscrutable glance, then turned and walked inside with the miniature coat in hand.

Cynthia stood there, hesitating for a moment before mustering her courage and following him in. She reached into her bag and pulled out the prepared VistaSphere Group files, setting them down on the coffee table in the living room.

"Mr. Holloway, these are VistaSphere Group's financial reports from the past several years. I hope you'll give this deal serious consideration."

Dominic sat down on the sofa, one hand resting on his knee, his fingers long and defined.

He drummed his fingertips absentmindedly, the silent rhythm making Cynthia's own heartbeat stumble in response.

She stood quietly to one side, fighting to keep her nerves in check. Next to this man, she felt like a rookie on her first day.
