Suddenly, someone came to mind—a person Fiona had been completely overlooking.

As soon as the thought hit her, Fiona let the frostiness on her face fade, just a bit. But she still didn’t say anything to Alice. She had no desire to keep talking about this, and there was no way she’d be the one to admit anything.

“Fiona, can you just say something? Just tell them you’re not the owner of International Glam,” Jane pleaded, sounding desperate.

Jane had taken time off from school because of her family. Fiona glanced over at Tyler, who picked up on her silent cue and tried calling Jane. The call went straight to voicemail, but a few seconds later, Tyler’s phone buzzed with a text.

“Handling something. I’ll be back at school soon. Don’t worry about me.”

Tyler showed Fiona the message, then tucked his phone away. Fiona stayed right where she was, completely unreadable, and turned to the girl next to her. “Can you move? I want to get some sleep.”

Alice looked at her like she’d just been slapped. She was the only one left who still believed in Fiona, and Fiona was kicking her out? What did she do wrong?

“Fiona, I’m the only one who thinks you’re innocent!” Alice cried, her voice shaky and eyes full of confusion. “Everyone’s saying the Woods family, the Kidd family, the Bryant family—they all fell because of you. They say you planned it all. I trusted you, and this is how you treat me?”

“Yeah. Please move, I want to sleep.”

“Fiona, do you even care about anyone? I’ve stuck my neck out for you, and you say stuff like this? I can’t believe you.”

Fiona didn’t even look at her. She just slipped on her headphones, shutting everything out.
