"Just you wait, Sarah. Your day will come."

Serena turned away, about to head back to her room for some rest, when a maid rushed in.

"Mrs. Larson, two guests from the Jansen family have arrived. Shall I show them in?"

"What are they doing here?" Serena froze for a moment.

Howard had come to the Larson residence—and hadn't even given her a heads-up?

Then, it clicked. The last time he called, Hugh had picked up. Of course Howard wouldn't dare contact her directly anymore.

"They said they're here to discuss the engagement party for Mr. Cole and Ms. Sarah," the maid explained.

Serena's brows knitted together. "Didn't we already have the engagement party?"

"They're saying they want to hold another one. A grander one."

Serena frowned. Now, that was suspicious. Who would hold two engagement parties?

But even if she sent them away today, they'd just come back tomorrow. There was no point in delaying the inevitable.

She gave a short nod and said, "Fine. Let them in. Since Eric and Melissa aren't home yet, don't bother Grandpa. I'll handle it."

"Yes, Mrs. Larson."

Everyone in the household knew Serena had been staying at the Larson residence lately, mainly to shield Calvin from the chaos outside.

Calvin was completely in the dark—even about the mess Sarah had recently caused.

Howard helped Rachel through the door, only to find Serena sitting alone on the couch.

But Serena wasn't wrong.

The engagement party had barely wrapped up. What reason could they possibly have to throw another one? This visit was probably to push for a wedding.
