At the Houston Group headquarters, Marion slouched in the meeting room chair. The same tired lines droned around him.

He cut in, weary. "Are you done?"

The room went dead quiet. Everyone held their breath, stealing glances at him.

"Guess that's a wrap," he said, standing up.

He'd woken up on edge early in the morning. He didn't know why, but his heart had been racing.

One guy jumped up. "Sir, there are other proposals."

"If I've gotta micromanage everything, why the hell do I pay you?" Marion frowned. "Figure it out yourselves. I've got stuff to do."

He walked out of the room, with his secretary trailing him. "Sir, the next stop is Osborne Group."

"I'm heading back to Potter Mansion."

The secretary blinked because a lot of issues were still waiting for Marion to address.

Erica and Randy hunched over the living room sofa, buried in files.

"No clue. She split this morning," Erica said, puzzled. "Did you guys fight again?"

"No way," Randy chimed in. "They've been too slammed to even see each other."

"Did she say where she was going?" Marion pressed.

"Nope," Erica replied. "But with the four families in shambles, her running out to help makes sense. Don't freak yourself out. You think she's sneaking around with some guy behind your back?"

Marion just turned and left.
