Drake couldn't resist messing with Debra.

"No point living," he said, playing it up. "Might as well end it."

"There's so much out there," she pleaded. "You're only 18. A bright future is still ahead."

"No future," he said, still sitting on the edge. "You don't know what I've been through. Someone like me? I'm too rotten to live."

"Nothing's set in stone," she said, frantic. "If you're hurting, talk to me. You don't have to do this. Yesterday, I was kinda harsh. I'm sorry. Just come down. It's dangerous."

The wind roared. One slip, and he'd fall for real.

Drake shifted, dangling his legs off the edge.

"Chill," she said, even more anxious. "I don't even know why I'm up here, but I studied psychology for a year. I can help. This won't solve anything. Think of your parents or someone you care about. Or that show you love, still waiting for the finale. New stuff happens every day. You can find something worth sticking around for. If you're lonely, I'll hang with you."

"Hang with me?" Drake echoed, intrigued. "What about Andrew?"

"He'd want me to help you," she said. "Saving someone's worth it."
