"You know it's nonsense?" Drake asked back.
"It's just that no one's listened to me ramble in a while," Debra said. "It feels not bad."
Drake's long strides forced her to speed up to keep pace. Noticing, he slowed down. "Where's the classroom building?"
"Huh?"
"Aren't we going to class?"
"Didn't you go to the classroom building yesterday?"
"I forgot the way, okay?"
"Oh."
She took the lead to guide him. Drake followed.
The campus was huge, and the path seemed to never end.
As they neared the classroom building, Debra said shyly, "I don't really like class either, but I've never skipped."
Drake stopped. "If you want me to ditch with you, just say it. No need to beat around the bush."
"That's not a good idea, right?" she said, sneaking glances at him. "Can we?"
Just then, a motorcycle zoomed by. Without looking, Drake grabbed the handlebar.
The delivery guy glanced at the Bentley key and then at his bike. "Hey, where is your car?"
Drake gunned the engine, weaving through campus. Students dodged, cursing at his speed.
Debra clung to his waist, nervous. "Slow down. It's too fast."
"Slow is no fun," he said, speeding up. "Hold me like that, and you'll fall off. I won't pick you up."
Scared, she hugged him tighter. He glanced at her hands and smirked, "More like it."
He maxed out the speed, blasting past the campus walls and heading for the docks.
Debra opened her eyes, her fear replaced by excitement. She screamed with thrill, letting out all her pent-up emotions.
