A baby's cry from the delivery room sent the adults outside into a frenzy.

"How's my wife? Is she okay?" Gael, usually calm and refined, was a nervous wreck.

"The mother and the daughter are both fine," the nurse replied, trying to soothe him.

He lit up. "That's great."

"Look, they're bringing the baby out," Dylan said, holding the newborn. "Look at her. She's so cute, just like Lori."

Gael gazed at the baby with love.

Andrew's parents waved him over. "Come meet your little sister."

Andrew stepped forward, curious about the tiny infant. Her hands were as soft as cotton. One wrong move, and he might hurt her.

Her round eyes locked onto him, unblinking. Weirdly, she stopped crying as soon as she saw him.

"These two are gonna be tight," Dylan muttered.

The baby cooed, reaching for Andrew. Her tiny hand hooked his finger, and she was happy at the touch.

Andrew had never seen a baby born and had never felt life's weight. At that moment, warmth hit him. It felt like a ritual of cleansing that could purify anything.
