"What's so funny? If you've got someone else, you should've told me," Debra sulked. "If you really like her, we can call off the engagement."

Andrew calmly cut her steak as she ranted, "You've always treated me like a kid, never like your fiancée. You've been keeping your distance lately. I get it. You're trying to cut ties so you can marry someone else."

Her nose stung. When she looked up, Andrew was unfazed, having sliced her steak perfectly.

He slid the plate to her, and she demanded, "Did you even hear me?"

"Hmm?" Andrew leaned back, smiling faintly, "Heard every word."

"Then why aren't you reacting?" Debra pressed. "If you want to end the engagement, just say it."

"I never said I wanted to end it," Andrew said.

Debra froze. "But just now..."

"Miss Howell is a key partner. We were just discussing business," Andrew said, almost amused. "And I never said I liked her."

Debra blinked, stunned.

That was true. She'd spun the whole thing in her head after overhearing the maids.

"But she was your college classmate. They said she had a huge crush on you, and you two were like a golden couple. She even confessed to you," she blurted out.

Andrew nodded. "Yeah, that happened."
