I went back to the guest room, still dazed.

Solomon tapped my forehead. "What's up? What did your mom say to you?"

"She said she believes I'm her daughter," I replied.

He blinked. "You sure you heard that right?"

"No mistake. I heard her clear as day."

"But who would buy a story like that?"

"She said she's been through it, so she believes me."

Only now did I see how cool Debra was, beyond just being my mother.

Solomon and I stayed at the Potter Mansion all night, but there was no sign of us waking up.

Randy never trusted our story, practically watching us round the clock. Solomon and I started to worry we'd be stuck there forever.

"Let's storm that bastard's hideout and take him down!" Randy slammed the table.

Solomon and I jumped, startled.

"Sit down." Erica smacked the back of his head. "Use your brain. You think we can just charge in? It's too risky."

"Then what? We gotta strike first."

"That's enough. Don't argue," Debra chimed in.

She had listened to Randy's fired-up rant for half an hour, and it was giving her a headache.

She added, "Randy has got a point. If we don't act, they'll come for us anyway. Better to take the fight to them."

"You sure about this?" Erica said. "If you're set, I'm with you."

"How come when I say it, I'm brainless, but when Debra says it, you're all in? You're playing favorites," Randy complained.

"Debra is my cousin-in-law. You and I? Not that close. Don't try to cozy up here," she retorted, waving him off.
