Fennec froze upon hearing Shannon's words. Her eyes widened slowly, and when she finally registered what Shannon was saying, her heart gave a sudden thump.

Without hesitation, she firmly nodded. "I'd do it!"

After settling the time and arrangements for her return to the alternate world, Fennec no longer lingered at the Jensen residence. She was soon led to the door by Marshmallow.

Guards at the Jensen residence weren't surprised by the sight. After all, Shannon's pets had always been this intelligent and enlightened.

After bidding Marshmallow farewell, Fennec left the villa district.

As she approached the gates, a car happened to pull up. Even through the windshield, she immediately recognized the person in the driver's seat and his familiar presence. But she was familiar with the presence of the version of him in the alternate world.

Eddie was in the car.

Upon learning that Shannon had returned, he'd planned to stop by and check in on her. But just as he was heading over, Carlos sent him another task.

Eddie had muttered the whole way about how Carlos still hadn't given up. A three-season regular like him wasn't enough, and Carlos just had to keep trying to rope in Shannon, the OG cast member.

Grumbling to himself, he drove into the villa gates. And right as he entered, he saw a lady walking out.

Their eyes met briefly through the windshield, and Fennec was the first to look away.

Even if they were identical in appearance and all aspects, to Fennec, the one she'd come to know and stay with was the alternate Eddie. She didn't stop or hesitate and simply brushed past him.

What she had no idea was that, in the car, Eddie had instinctively eased off the gas pedal the moment she passed.

His gaze lingered on her through the rearview mirror, and he watched her walk further away. Instinctively clutching his chest, he murmured, "Granny, I think I've seen her before."

Later, the global leaders announced that there existed a parallel world outside of theirs. But nothing came after that.

At one point, there were rumors online about a mass disappearance in several countries, all on the same day. Some even claimed they'd lost memories of that particular day, but those voices were soon drowned out by conspiracy theories and breaking news of wars.

Eddie stopped following the news, yet unease grew within him.
