Caught off guard by the blatant show of affection, Zidane decided to ignore the couple and opened the ghost gate to leave. He assumed Mordecai would follow, but instead of leaving, the latter remained where he was.

Mordecai turned to Shannon and said, "I have a request as well." His voice was low, composed, and there wasn't the faintest hint of threat.

Benjamin's expression darkened. Had Mordecai not listened to a single word that was just said?

Just as Benjamin was about to forcibly send him away, Mordecai began. "Zidane refused to reassume the position of Morvahn, and the punishment he received was ordained by the Divine Power itself.

"Though you no longer hold the title of the Divine Power, you are still, in essence, its successor. I hope you'll restore his identity in its name."

At the very least, Zidane could be free to walk the human world as himself and not be shackled by endless cycles in reincarnation from this lifetime onward.

It wasn't that Mordecai wanted Shannon to intervene, but there were things only she could handle.

The most shocking part was that, as the current Morvahn, Mordecai wasn't even upset. If anything, he looked like he supported Zidane's dream of expanding Mystic and swallowing up his realm of control.

But before she could ask, an identical ghost gate flickered back to life at the exact spot Zidane had vanished from earlier.

Stepping out in his typical suit, Zidane stood at the gate and glared irritably at Mordecai. "Are you coming or not?"

Of all people present, Mordecai was the most taken aback to see Zidane return.

After a long pause, he took a step forward and said, "I'm coming."

With that, he followed Zidane into the ghost gate. Once Zidane turned around, the two figures started walking side by side as their forms gradually dissolved along with the closing gate.
