Those words had just left Tessa's lips when Stephen grabbed her arm and pulled her into his embrace. She didn't see it coming and naturally fell straight into his arms. "What are you d—"
She didn't even have a chance to finish her sentence when he kissed her. In the beginning, he had kissed her tenderly, languidly. It was a kiss filled with confidence and skill.
Sure enough, a tingling sensation soon spread through every nerve in her body.
Eventually, the kiss gradually shifted from something gentle to one that was deep and demanding.
Just as Stephen was about to take things a step further, Tessa shoved him away, panting. "Take a shower."
As he was interrupted midway, his dark eyes were cloudy with grievance. "Can't I kiss you, my love?"
Tessa didn't expect Stephen to behave in such a manner when drunk. She couldn't tell whether she was imagining things, but it seemed as though he was playing coy. That was especially true when he addressed her so intimately. The way he said it melted her heart.
So, her voice softened as she coaxed him gently, "Be good and take a shower, okay?"
"Won't you join me, my love?" he asked, his eyes shining with hope.
It was very hard for her to turn him down.
Just as she was about to respond, he deliberately murmured huskily, "My love, I'm drunk. It's not safe for me to shower alone. What if I fall?"
Tessa huffed at him in amusement and nudged him gently. "Stop faking it."
She didn't shove him. If anything, she had barely pushed him. She couldn't tell if it was because of the alcohol or his determination to act, but Stephen staggered and stumbled into the cabinet behind him.
There was a loud thud. He definitely bumped himself somewhere.
Tessa startled at the sound and hastily rushed forward to check on him, asking urgently, "Are you hurt anywhere?"
"My knee. It hurts," he murmured plaintively.
He lowered his eyes to look at her and said suggestively, "Now, I really can't move about normally. I need my wife to help me shower."
