The once-proud Agatha had now been reduced to a timid and meek woman. Grace felt an indescribable mess of emotions as she looked at Agatha's current self.

But then, it occurred to her that Agatha was suffering all of this gladly. At this thought, her emotions instantly sorted themselves out until all that was left was derision.

All Grace could say was that Agatha had brought this on herself.

As Agatha carefully backed out of the study, she happened to run into Magnus outside, who had just returned home from night fishing.

Seeing the tray of untouched supper in her hands, he mocked, "Look at you fawning over someone only to be rejected. It's rare to see someone make such a joke of themselves like you have."

Agatha was emboldened by Timothy's support, so she now acted completely different toward Magnus than before. Straightening her bent spine, she resumed her haughty, aristocratic demeanor.

"Then, shouldn't someone like you be even more laughable? At least I still have my son's affection. What do you have? The embarrassing failure to catch a single thing, even after fishing all night?" she retorted.

Magnus enjoyed wild fishing. He even had the finest gear and bait. But for some unknown reason, he had never managed to catch a single fish.

Already moody and frustrated over being forced to step down from power, this added humiliation only worsened his foul mood. And now, Agatha had even used it to mock him. Immediately, his expression suddenly turned frighteningly dark.

Magnus was long used to holding power. So, when his face turned thunderous, the very air around him seemed to drop in temperature. Even the maids passing by felt the chill and dared not breathe because of it.

In the past, no matter how unwilling Agatha had been to relent, she would immediately clam up the moment Magnus put on that expression.

But now, not only was she not intimidated, she even bit back arrogantly and disdainfully.

"You're no longer in charge of the Hardwell family, Magnus. So, I suggest you stop throwing around that sour expression of yours! It doesn't matter how much you can't stand me. You can't do anything to me anymore!"

Agatha felt delightfully vindicated as she watched Magnus' expression grow even darker. She still had a long life ahead of her, and she fully intended to repay every slight and humiliation she had endured from him all these years.

Having spent many years at the top, Magnus' connections were naturally something that Timothy couldn't guard against. Hence, it didn't take long for him to appear in front of Irvin in secret.

The moment Magnus saw Irvin, he immediately rushed forward as emotional tears welled up in his eyes. "I finally get to see you, Irvin!"

Irvin's eyes darkened as he looked at the man rushing toward him.

Magnus then went on to tell a heavily embellished version of how Timothy had forced his way into power.

Overall, Magnus' narrative was that the only reason he had handed the company over to Timothy was that Timothy had viciously coerced him.
