"Charlotte? You're sure it was her?" Melvin's eyes turned cold.

Sarah nodded firmly. She'd had many interactions with Charlotte, heard both her sweet talk and vicious words. Though she hadn't seen the attacker's face, she was certain it was Charlotte.

The motive was obvious - James.

He'd been acting strangely lately, coming to comfort her after her breakup with Zachary. Anyone would be suspicious of his behavior.

"James barely tried to stop Lucy's arrest. He must have known the truth," Melvin paused, then added, "And there's something else - Charlotte is pregnant."

"How convenient," Sarah said bitterly. "Getting pregnant right after this incident. It's James's first child - his parents will protect her at any cost."

Mrs. Chancer was old-fashioned. She'd constantly criticized Sarah during their three-year marriage for not having children, never knowing James had deliberately kept his distance, saving himself for Charlotte.

Now that Charlotte was pregnant - not only was she James's true love, but carrying the Chancer heir - Mrs. Chancer would shield her fiercely.

No wonder there hadn't been a scene from Mrs. Chancer. Charlotte's pregnancy clearly took priority over Lucy's situation.

Sarah knew Lucy wasn't clever enough to orchestrate such a plan.

The scheme was too sophisticated - just getting the Luther family involved would have required careful manipulation.

Remembering how she'd seen Vivian, Lucy, and Charlotte together at the stables, Sarah recalled how Vivian had helped Lucy avoid detention before.

Lying in her hospital bed, finishing her soup, Sarah decided it was time to fight back.

Melvin showed her his tablet. "Don't worry about the Larson contract. We have that unused factory from Dad's time. The German equipment is just one generation behind Larson’s - it'll work perfectly."

Sarah looked at her cousin gratefully. "Thank you, Mel."

If only she'd checked things properly before taking Sarah there, none of this would have happened.

She took another drink, coughing as it burned her throat.

"Hey beautiful, can I buy you a drink?" A man leaned in, trying to put his arm around her shoulders.

He'd noticed her the moment she walked in - women this stunning were rare.
