Steven stared at Scarlett for a moment, completely dazed. “Scarlett, you’re so beautiful.”

“Ugh, how cheesy,” Scarlett muttered, clearly tipsy herself.

After another ten minutes or so, Scarlett was just as drunk as Steven. With what little sense he had left, Steven managed to call a cab, gave the driver his home address, and promptly passed out.

When the driver finally woke them up, Steven groggily opened his eyes and saw Scarlett still half-asleep. Unsteady on his feet, he helped her out of the car and into his house. The scene felt oddly familiar—just like the last time his friend had brought Scarlett to his place.

Once inside, Steven carefully laid Scarlett on the bed. Just as he turned to leave, he tripped and fell to the floor. Before he could get up, Scarlett’s arm draped across his chest.

Gently, he moved her arm off him, but the moment he let go, she threw it back over him. This happened several times before Steven gave up, exhaling in defeat.

The faint smell of alcohol lingered in the air. Steven turned his head and found himself face-to-face with Scarlett. He stared at her for what felt like an eternity, his eyes burning from the effort to keep looking. Finally, he forced himself to turn away.

Scarlett’s sleeping posture wasn’t exactly graceful. She rolled over, half-pinning Steven beneath her. Her face ended up nestled against his neck, her warm breath brushing against his skin. The soft sensation sent a ticklish shiver down his spine, and he couldn’t suppress the rising heat inside him. Unable to resist any longer, he wrapped his arms tightly around her.

Scarlett, still caught in her drunken haze, instinctively returned the embrace. Lost in the moment, they found themselves tangled together once more.

The next morning, Scarlett woke up groggily. As her eyes adjusted, she froze in shock at the sight of the man lying next to her.

“Why is it Steven again?” she muttered, panicking.

Bits and pieces of the previous night began to surface in her mind, but she couldn’t recall how she’d ended up at Steven’s place—or how they’d ended up in bed together again.

She ranted passionately, completely oblivious to Steven’s amused expression as he watched her.

Her hand reached out to grab a grape from the bowl in front of her. The grapes had just been delivered and were still chilled from the fridge, their coolness a refreshing treat. Scarlett seemed particularly pleased, munching her way through more than half the bowl.

Steven frowned slightly at the dwindling pile of grapes and pushed the bowl farther away, out of her reach.

Scarlett looked over at him in disbelief, visibly annoyed. She was enjoying herself—what gave him the right to take the grapes away?

Her eyes darted toward Steven, and she decided to wait for the perfect moment. When he wasn’t paying attention, she stealthily tried to pull the bowl back toward her. However, Steven was too sharp for her tricks, and her plan was foiled.

“Why are you being so stingy?” she grumbled under her breath, glaring at him.
