Charlotte's eyes welled up at her mother's words. "Mom, don't say that. James won't abandon me. He'll definitely save me."

Even if James wouldn't save her, Mrs. Chancer surely wouldn't abandon her. She touched her stomach - if nothing else, they'd do it for the baby.

The evening's peace was shattered when, just as Mrs. Chancer brought soup and Charlotte had barely taken two sips, the police came to take her away.

"What are you doing!" Mrs. Chancer screamed, grabbing Charlotte's arm.

Charlotte hadn't expected this turn of events as she was led to the police car. At the hospital entrance, Mrs. Chancer angrily called James, then William.

At Adams University, Sarah had just packed up to leave work when she encountered Zachary at the door. She was about to avoid him when she heard Scarlett's voice.

"Sasa! Don't go! Come with us to the winter light festival!"

Sarah suddenly remembered the afternoon's heated discussions on the school forum about the winter light display being held on East Coast's historic district.

But she glanced uncertainly at Zachary. Before she could respond, Scarlett pulled her into the car. "Come with me, Sasa! The light displays will be amazing.”

She couldn't refuse Scarlett. She sat in the back with Scarlett while Steven drove and Zachary took the passenger seat.

Steven seemed unhappy with this arrangement, constantly glancing back at Scarlett.

They soon arrived at the historic district, which was already crowded with people.

The entire street was decorated with colorful lights overhead. During the festival, whether intentionally or not, Scarlett and Steven held hands and seemed to drift away from Sarah and Zachary in the crowded areas.

It didn't take much effort - the four were quickly separated by the crowd.

Just as she turned, a large hand gripped her wrist.

She looked up instinctively - it was Zachary.

"What are you doing?" she said uncomfortably, turning away and trying to pull her hand from his warm grip, but his hold was like an iron shackle.

Zachary held her close, protecting her from the bustling crowd and street vendors who might bump into her.

"Sasa, this is for you." Zachary pulled out a light-up headband from a small gift bag and gently placed it on her head. The soft LED lights created a gentle glow around her face.

Sarah's heart raced. He must have bought it just moments ago - but why for her?

Her cheeks flushed pink. With the crowds all around, she couldn't just walk away. As he guided her through the festival, she glanced down at the gift bag in her hands and found a small card inside. Reading the message made her heart skip: "May Sasa always be safe and well."
