"He’s just a child! He doesn’t understand anything—don’t scare him!"

"He’s a child, yes. He’s your son. But have you ever thought about this? Tina was your daughter. She was just a college student, not even out in the real world yet. If your son saw the bad guy, why are you stopping him from speaking? Do you know who it was?"

Mrs. Mendes snapped, furious. "Know what? What nonsense are you spouting?!"

Sarah unlocked her phone and placed it in front of Mrs. Mendes. "Look carefully. I’m calling the police."

Her finger hovered over the emergency dial button, ready to press down.

"Wait! Don’t!" Mrs. Mendes panicked and quickly reached out to stop her.

Sarah lowered the phone. "Then let me talk to your son."

"I…" Mrs. Mendes hesitated, seeming torn.

"That day, when Mom went to buy groceries, I saw my sister following someone upstairs. That person must be a bad guy. Tina hasn’t come back yet—did the bad guy take her away?" The little boy’s voice was innocent, his words filled with childlike confusion. He was still too young to understand what death meant.

Mrs. Mendes froze. She suddenly grabbed her son’s hand tightly. "What do you mean? Are you saying that after I left for the market, someone took your sister away?"

"Yeah! She didn’t want to go at first, but that person kept pulling her upstairs."

Sarah’s expression turned serious as she looked at the boy. "Tell me—was it a man or a woman?"

"It was a woman. A really pretty lady."

The boy smiled as he spoke, completely unaware that this "pretty lady" had likely been the one responsible for his sister’s death.

Mrs. Mendes’s face flickered with a strange emotion, like she had suddenly recalled something. She looked dazed.

Sarah glanced at the black-and-white photo of Tina resting in the corner of the room.

Tina, don’t be sad. Look, someone is still waiting for you.

"Alright, go back to your room and do your homework now. Your mom and I have some things to talk about," Sarah said gently.

Tommy obediently turned and went back to his room, leaving Mrs. Mendes staring at Sarah, still unable to figure out why she had taken the chocolate.

"Mrs. Mendes, are you still refusing to tell the truth?"

Mrs. Mendes trembled. "W-what do you mean?"

She pretended not to understand, her gaze locked onto Sarah, trying to mask her fear.
