“Miss, this isn’t a cheap watch. If you want it repaired, it’ll cost quite a bit. Do you want me to just fix the strap and the glass, or should I work on the case too?”
The case only had a few minor scratches—nothing obvious unless you looked closely.
Sarah’s index finger still throbbed faintly.
“Fix everything,” she said. “How long will it take?”
The shop owner hesitated before replying, “This is a German Lange watch. Some parts need to be ordered from Germany. Even here in East Coast, you won’t find replacements easily. Best case, a few weeks. Worst case… it might take a few months.”
Sarah nodded. “Money isn’t an issue.”
She pulled a check from her handbag, placed it on the counter, then turned to leave.
She wasn’t entirely sure why she cared enough to fix the watch.
But today, she’d finally figured out one thing.
Those eyes…
They looked just like Steven’s.
And Steven was Scarlett’s boyfriend.

As soon as Sarah stepped out of the car back home, Annette, the housekeeper, rushed toward her, looking flustered.
“Miss Sarah! You need to go to the Sanders Group and find Mr. Melvin!”
Sarah immediately noticed the sweat beading on Annette’s forehead and the anxious glint in her eyes.
Her brows knitted. “Annette, what’s going on?”
“Miss, please… don’t ask. Just don’t go inside. Wait until the Mr. Melvin comes back—”
Sarah’s back went rigid. Her voice dropped. “What happened?”
Annette bit her lip and glanced toward the door, her expression pained.
“Your aunt… and Miss White… brought Old Lady White with them. They said they came to teach you a lesson. Mr. Melvin’s at the office, and your aunt didn’t manage to stop them. Miss, please don’t go in right now—they’re causing a terrible scene.”
Old Lady White sat stiffly on the couch, her expression cold and severe. Her sharp eyes were locked on Mrs. Sanders.
“Amanda,” she said, voice like ice, “is this how you’ve raised that girl? To pull a stunt like this? We’re all family. Why stir up such trouble?”
Sarah stepped forward, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Oh? Did you all come over to check how well that thug managed to harass me?”
Mrs. Sanders immediately reached for her arm and whispered, “Sasa, don’t make it worse. Just let it go.”
Mrs. Blanco shot Sarah a venomous look. "A thug? That's your cousin! My nephew! Show some respect and address him properly!"
She made a show of dabbing her dry eyes with a handkerchief before turning to Old Lady White.
"Mother, Sydney told me everything. Benji was unconscious! How could he have harassed anyone while passed out? And Sarah's such a slip of a girl—how could she possibly fight off a grown man if he really wanted to hurt her? If you ask me, she's making the whole thing up."
Sydney quickly wiped away crocodile tears. "They took Benji straight to the hospital, you know."
Old Lady White's eyes turned to ice as she struck her cane against the floor. "Sarah, you've got no sense of family loyalty. Always running to the police. No wonder no man wants to keep you."
Her gaze hardened. "The Sanders have clearly spoiled you beyond repair. Someone needs to teach you some manners!"
