She gave Sarah one last look. "Better pray for yourself."

In a cheap rental apartment in East Coast's slums, Amy carried her child into a room where her lover lived.

"I'll get the money soon. Then we can leave East Coast, okay?" Amy pleaded earnestly.

The man nodded halfheartedly. "Sure, Amy. We'll have a good life, the three of us. Did they say when you'd get the money?"

Amy hesitated. "They said after Sarah's reputation is ruined. Should be soon, I think."

The man wrapped his arm around Amy's shoulders, speaking sweetly. "Honey, good thing you came up with this plan. Lucky your ex-husband's such an idiot."

Amy felt uncomfortable at his words. "Don't talk about him like that. We're the ones who wronged him."

But she had to look out for herself. She just wanted a better life for her child.

"Alright, I'll stop. But this place is so shabby. Can't I come stay with you? Henry's moved out anyway."

Amy shook her head. "Not yet. The neighbors are watching. We just got divorced - there'd be too much gossip if I moved you in."

The man looked away disappointed. "Fine."

Amy didn't stay long, leaving quickly with her child.

Half an hour after she left, several men kicked down the flimsy wooden door of the apartment.

The man put down his game, trembling like the door as he looked at the visitors. “Troy, what brings you here?"

"You've got nerve asking me that. When are you paying back what you borrowed? I'm telling you, pay up or you're screwed!” Troy snarled.

The man immediately swore. “Troy, I'll definitely get the money together soon. Please trust me one last time!"

"Homewrecker!"

"Slut!"

"Get out of East Coast!"

"Go die!"

The harsh paint fumes stung her nose even from a distance, giving her a headache.

Sarah maintained her composure, though her fists clenched tight.

Suddenly someone burst forward from behind her, tearing down all the hateful papers and crumpling them up.

They shouted at the crowd, "Stop staring! You all know who Sarah really is! Don't forget who helped get your papers to Jane, who brought Jane here as a judge, who helped Adams win first place at the Decker competition! You believe some random woman's lies over the counselor who's always been there for you?"
