Sarah noticed something off in Melvin's expression.

“Melvin, what's wrong?"

"Nothing," he said, looking uncomfortable.

Sarah coughed lightly. "You're hiding something from me. What is it? Is it about Zachary?"

Melvin avoided her eyes, quickly getting up from beside the bed.

“Melvin! Tell me what happened!" Something major must have occurred during the day and night she'd been unconscious.

"Sasa, just focus on recovering. Finish your chicken soup and don't worry about anything else."

Melvin didn't want Sarah to know, but she held out her hand. "Brother, give me the remote."

He quickly hid it behind his back.

Sarah lunged for it. Afraid of hurting her, Melvin didn't resist too forcefully, and she managed to grab the remote.

She turned on the TV. The earlier news was gone. She flipped through channels until finally catching a glimpse of Zachary on a financial news station.

"Reports indicate Miss Wilson and Mr. Reynolds reached an engagement agreement two nights ago. According to media sources, they were betrothed as children and have been childhood sweethearts for over a decade, finally making it official... With Wilson and Reynolds being two business giants in East Coast, this engagement could have significant implications for the region..."

Sarah stared blankly at the screen long after the news ended. If she'd wondered why Vivian suddenly released her, now it was crystal clear.

Vivian had gotten Zachary. They were getting engaged.

"Sasa, I'll always protect you. I'll never leave you."

At the Reynolds house.

At the dinner table, Vivian was the picture of attentiveness, serving food and making William feel well cared for. Even Zachary couldn't help glancing at her a few times.

This greatly displeased Mia, though for appearance's sake, she put on a sweet voice, "Miss Wilson is so thoughtful, already acting like this before even joining the family."

Zachary frowned. "Mia."

"What? I'm not wrong. You're not engaged yet, let alone married." Under William’s gaze, Mia's voice grew smaller, and she dared not say more.

Vivian looked at Mia with hurt in her eyes. "Mia, I know you dislike me because of Sarah. But even if I become Zachary's fiancée, Sarah can still be your best friend. Your relationship won't change because of this. Your brother made this choice. I just love him - that's not wrong."

She lowered her eyes, looking pitiful. Seeing this act made Mia angry. "Stop putting on that face! As if I'm bullying you."
