Zachary smirked as he watched Charlie, amused by his outlandish claims. The poor fool was so wrapped up in his fantasies of wealth that he completely missed the mockery in Zachary's eyes.

But as they say, no plan survives contact with reality.

Charlie never imagined his schemes would collapse before they even got off the ground.

"How could I lose?" Charlie stared blankly at the dice on the gambling table, unable to believe what was happening.

The noisy sounds of the gambling den faded away as his mind blocked them out. His ears heard nothing, and everything around him became a blur.

"Hey, are you playing or not? If not, get out of the way. You're blocking the table," someone shoved him aside.

Charlie was like a mad dog now, ready to snap at anyone.

He turned around angrily, about to lash out, when he saw Zachary standing calmly in the crowd as if nothing had happened.

That made sense—after all, it was his money that was lost.

Realizing this, Charlie couldn't contain the anger rising from deep within. He stormed toward Zachary.

Before he could say a word, Zachary cut him off coldly, seeming to read his thoughts. "I never guaranteed you'd win. That's gambling—wins and losses. Even God himself couldn't win every hand."

Zachary was right, leaving Charlie speechless.

The sudden dose of reality extinguished his burning anger, leaving him so frustrated he could almost spit blood. Even passing out would be better than facing this cruel reality.

What Charlie failed to understand was that for someone with Zachary's intelligence, the games in this dingy casino were child's play—like a cat toying with mice.

So Zachary had deliberately lost. He wanted to drive Charlie to complete desperation. Only then could his next move be decisive.

Charlie noticed Sarah was home. His anger found an outlet, and he strode toward her.

"Sarah, were you just laughing at me?" he confronted her accusingly.

Sarah rolled her eyes with her back to him, not bothering to argue with someone who was acting crazy.

Seeing that she was ignoring him, Charlie grew even angrier. "Sarah, I'm warning you—don't think I won't hit you. You're living in my house. You'd better remember that."

Though she didn't want to engage, his endless nagging was truly annoying.

Sarah placed the two pieces of clothing into her suitcase and zipped it up. She turned around and gave him a cold look. "Charlie, if you're sick, go to the hospital for treatment. Don't act crazy around me."

As she turned away, something occurred to her, and her mood visibly improved.
