As Zachary approached slowly, Sarah wanted to escape, but unfortunately, she had the will but not the ability.

The hillside was damp, making the dirt path slippery.

She had no strength to resist as he lifted her up in his arms. "Put me down, Zachary! Let me go!"

"You can't walk," he replied, carrying her with steady steps.

"Even if I can't walk, I don't need your help! Don't forget, you have a fiancée now!"

Zachary's eyes darkened. She really knew how to bring up the most uncomfortable topics.

The man had just been in a fight, and his clothes were somewhat disheveled, which only added to his wild nature. His entire presence radiated a dangerous charm.

Sarah couldn't help stealing several glances at him. Though she kept telling herself not to fall for him, her heartbeat still involuntarily lost its rhythm.

Back at the dormitory, Zachary carefully placed her on the bed and arranged the blankets for her.

Sarah frowned, staring at him as she voiced her suspicion. "I never told you this address. How did you know where to find me?"

Zachary stiffened, a flash of panic quickly crossing his eyes.

Before he could think of an answer, Sarah concluded, "You followed me."

Zachary denied it immediately. "No, I didn't."

Sarah stared at him without blinking, trying to find signs of a lie in his expression.

Caught off guard, Zachary looked up at her helplessly. "Doesn't your foot hurt?"

Her expression changed at the mention of her injury.

Her swollen foot felt like it was being crushed by a large rock. It wasn't particularly painful, possibly because the injury had numbed over time, but seeing how ugly it looked made her irritable.

While Zachary was focused on warming the oil, Sarah held her breath and carefully tried to scoot toward the foot of the bed.

Unfortunately, before she could pull both feet back, Zachary grabbed the ankle of her injured foot.

Sarah instinctively struggled, making things worse as tears sprang to her eyes from the pain.

Zachary looked at her with a mixture of amusement and frustration. "That's what happens when you move around."

Sarah gritted her teeth in anger. This was all his fault.

"You know about my relationship with Charlie, don't you?" Zachary suddenly asked while Sarah was still anxious.

Sarah was taken aback, frowning in confusion. "Charlie, that scumbag? You have a connection with him?"

Zachary knew she was playing dumb. He smiled without exposing her act, and continued, "The reason you've tolerated Charlie until now, enduring humiliation without immediately calling the police—was it because of me?"
