She remained shaken. There shouldn’t be anybody in the room at this time.

Slowly, she opened the door, carefully checking around. No one was there.

But she had clearly heard that distinct creaking sound and seen that terrifying eye.

The long corridor was quiet, with few people visible in this corner.

Especially after lunch, when everyone would be taking their afternoon rest, nobody should be wandering around here.

Mia had just changed her clothes and was heading back to her classroom to get her phone.

Before she could cross the hallway, someone suddenly appeared.

Tracy shoved Mia hard against the wall. Her back slammed into it, causing her to grunt in pain.

Beside the long corridor were many weeds and trees. People outside couldn't easily see in, and those inside couldn't easily notice people outside.

No one noticed that while Tracy was bullying Mia, a thin figure darted out from the corridor and ran straight to Mia's classroom.

"How funny. Doesn't feel good to be soaked like a drowned rat, does it?" Tracy taunted. She seemed eager to hurl every dirty insult at Mia.

About a dozen girls surrounded Mia, whose face showed no surprise—she seemed accustomed to this treatment.

One girl said impatiently to Tracy, "Why waste words on her? Just hit her! I've never seen anyone who couldn't be beaten into submission."

Two other girls grabbed Mia's arms, preventing her from fighting back.

Tracy gripped Mia's chin, squeezing hard enough to leave red marks. "Weren't you acting so tough before? Hit me now! See? Now you're the one being controlled."

"I don't know who gave you the courage to do all this, but you can't seriously believe you can withstand revenge from my family, can you?" Mia challenged.

"Revenge?" Tracy murmured. A flash of fear crossed her eyes, but she quickly recovered. "Do you have any proof?"

Tracy's immature voice still carried a spoiled, babyish tone that sounded grating, especially when she spoke loudly.

Mia coughed softly twice more. "Let me go! I advise you to do it while there's still time."

"Even if I let you go now, would your family spare me?" Tracy mocked.

Mia grimaced. Of course they wouldn't.

Tracy pulled a cigarette from her pocket. Though she didn't light it, she ran it across Mia's face.
